How to Root Sony Xperia Sola mt27i ics 4.0.4

How to Root Sony Xperia Sola mt27i ics 4.0.4 (with the most detailed steps)

Before making any changes make sure you have:

  1. Installed latest Sony PC companion.
  2. Android sdk.
  3. Your android version is 4.0.4
  4. Your build number is 6.1.1.B.1.54
  5. And last but not the least, you have sony xperia sola (MT27i)

These are the things you will need to download:

Synopsis:
  • Rooting your phone involves two steps:
  • First you have to flash your boot loader.
  • Then the actual rooting has to take place.
  • Flashtool is used to flash you bootloader.
  • 6.1.1.B.1.10 and 6.1.1.B.1.54 stock kernel contains the stock kernel files. You need these stock kernel files for the flash tool.
  • Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry zip file contains the actual files that will root your phone.
Now that you have downloaded all the necessary files and installed android sdk, Sony PC companion and Flashtool, we shall begin.

Please be advised that rooting a phone can be a tricky business and you are attempting to root your phone at your own risk. Since, there are just too many variables to consider, you may not be able to root your phone in the first attempt. However, since the procedure below worked for me, I am sure it will work for you too if you do exactly as I tell you to.

Let us begin and best of luck. Here come the instructions:

1:Install flashtool(C:\Flashtool)
2:Extract the zip file with the kernel files (kernel.zip)
3:Copy the two kernel files in (C:\Flashtool\firmwares).
4:Now, make sure your phone has "USB debugging" enabled in "Developer options" and "Unknown sources” checked in security.
5:Open Flashtool.
6:Click on "Flash icon".
7:Select "flashmode" then, OK
8:Select MT27i global then OK.
9:Follow the instructions as shown in the screen.
10:After the flash is completed, don’t forget to close the flashtool window because this will interrupt later in the rooting process.
11:Now your phone will restart. After restarting it may black out a bit. But don’t worry its part of the process.
12:Extract Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry
13:Inside the extracted folder click on "RunMe.bat"
14:In the command prompt type "1" and hit enter. The number 1 means normal rooting.
15:You must see adb started successfully, otherwise something is wrong.
16:See your phone, it will ask you to backup a fake root backup.
17:Click restore, then OK. The OK might get hidden due to blackout, so notice its position.
18:If everything is well, it will tell you everything is well and reboot the phone automatically
19:You will now see the SuperUser app in your phone.
20:The only thing left now is to enjoy :)

Please don't forget to comment on the blog if this method was successful in rooting your SONY XPERIA SOLA.

The backup plan (if anything goes wrong):
  1. If anything is to go wrong, then connect your phone to your pc.
  2. Open Sony Pc companion, update your phone to the latest software. This will restore your phone to its original ICS.
  3. Its better to have a usable phone than not having a phone at all.
